Cannabidiol, commonly referred to as CBD, is one of the primary compounds (cannabinoids) in the cannabis plant. While CBD is a key compound in medical marijuana, it is derived from hemp, which is a cousin to the marijuana plant. CBD is non psychoactive which means that unlike THC the compound in marijuana responsible for the “high”, CBD will not get you high. It works with the body’s natural endocannabinoid system to promote homeostasis.

Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive and does not cause a “high” or a “stoned” feeling. CBD offers the benefits of cannabis without the euphoria. CBD also comes from the Hemp plant, which is a cannabis plant, but a cousin to the Marijuana plant.
No, hemp does not cause a “high” or “stoned” feeling.

Hemp and marijuana are vastly different, even though they come from the same plant species (Cannabis sativa L.). Hemp grows differently, has different structural traits, and provides different effects when consumed / used.

Because hemp plants do not contain large amounts of THC, they do not get you high.

That being said, there are some hemp strains that were specifically bred for high CBD content, and there are some marijuana strains bred for their high levels of CBD and low levels of THC.

Hemp flower is a popular natural treatment for a long list of ailments.

Hemp may help:

  • Relieve pain
  • Prevent and stop seizures
  • Reduce anxiety and depression
  • Reduce psychotic symptoms
  • Fight addiction
  • Provide relief from insomnia
  • Alleviate cancer-related symptoms
  • Possibly have neuroprotective qualities
  • Reduce acne
  • Improve heart health
  • Prevent diabetes

All of our hemp flower is grown outdoors, without the use of pesticides or other harmful chemicals. The flower is grown right here on our Vermont farm, which is limited to six acres in order to ensure quality.  Our farm is a VOF Certified Organic Farm, so our CBD hemp plants are grown under the strict guidelines and methods put forth by the certifying agency.

Our hemp contains legal trace amounts of THC (.03 or less)  while it is unlikely that you would fail a drug test, it depends on the quantity of CBD you ingest, and how you ingest it.  Smoking CBD carries more of a chance of testing positive for THC, while tinctures decrease that chance, and topical use gives you almost no chance of testing positive for THC.

While we cannot make dosing recommendations, we encourage you to speak with your health practitioner about using CBD.   Every body is different, dosing depends on a number of factors including: weight, condition you are treating, strength of the CBD product, and your individual body chemistry.

A general recommendation, if you are unfamiliar with CBD is to start low and slow. Usually 10mg dose, waiting 90minutes to see what the effect for you is, and slowly increasing over several days if needed.  However, we strongly recommend speaking to your doctor about your individual needs.

We provide a dosage chart for each of Rel Hemp’s Tincture Guide linked below.
